Car rental prices in Phuket depend on more than just the class of vehicle — season, rental length and how you get the car all move the final number. Here’s a clear breakdown of what different categories cost in our fleet and what actually drives the total price.
What each class of car costs with us
The most affordable options are compact sedans: the Toyota Vios and Toyota Yaris ATIV start from $20 a day, with the Toyota Yaris hatchback close behind at $21. These are practical choices for two or three people on a tighter budget.
The mid tier covers hybrid sedans and a crossover: the Toyota Corolla Altis from $25, the Honda Civic and Honda City from $23, and the compact Toyota Corolla Cross from $30. More space, a softer ride, and for the hybrids, noticeably lower fuel use.
At the top end: the comfortable Toyota Camry from $45 and the sportier Corolla Altis GR Sport from $29. For larger groups, diving gear or rougher roads, the seven-seat Toyota Fortuner starts at $50 and the Toyota Hilux pickup at $41 a day.
What actually moves the final price
- Rental length. Longer rentals bring the daily rate down — weekly and monthly bookings are always cheaper per day than a short stay, so ask about the discount when booking.
- Season. High season (November through March) and the New Year period bring more demand, so popular models get booked out early and prices on them can rise — book ahead if your dates fall in this window.
- Pickup and drop-off location. Hotel delivery or an airport meet-and-greet usually aren’t included in the base daily rate — this is confirmed separately based on distance when you book.
- Driver’s age. A small surcharge can apply for drivers under 25 — more on this in our article on licence requirements.
- Extras. A child seat, extended insurance coverage or an additional driver are added to the base price separately.
What’s already included in the daily rate
Basic third-party liability insurance and standard vehicle maintenance are already built into the daily price — no extra charge there. What isn’t included is fuel (the car is handed over and returned with the same fuel level) and any damage beyond what the insurance covers. We go into exactly how the deposit and extended insurance work in a separate article.
Matching a car to your budget
Travelling as a couple and keeping costs down? The Vios or Yaris ATIV are the way to go. Want to save on fuel while covering a lot of ground? The hybrid Corolla Altis is worth a look. Group of four or more, or carrying a lot of gear? The Fortuner or Hilux pay for their higher daily rate by saving you a second car.
The full lineup with current prices is always available in the car catalogue, with filters for pickup location and dates. Not sure which class fits your budget and itinerary? Message us on WhatsApp and we’ll help you pick.
